Build My Life

If We’ve Ever Needed You

Prayer of Confession

The Lord shelters and protects us. The Lord gives us Life! Yet, we need to bring our burdens and Sin and leave them at the foot of the cross. Let us pray:

God of Love and Life, You have called us to live by Your love in unity of heart and mission; yet we have continued in ways of darkness. We take pride in our private lives, rather than joining hands, hearts, and resources to build places of safety and peace for all. Though called and chosen to live in confident hope that Christ’s resurrection assures us of abundant life, we anxiously strive instead to preserve and increase our personal well-being and profit. For give us for our faithlessness and for denying the light of Your love.
(Let us confess in silence to God the burdens of our hearts)

Hear the Good News! The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

*Affirmation of Faith

The Scots Confession (1560)

We Confess and acknowledge one God alone, to whom alone we must cleave, whom alone we must serve, whom alone we must worship, and in whom alone we put our trust. Who is eternal, infinite, immeasurable, incomprehensible, omnipotent, invisible; one in substance and yet distinct in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. By whom we confess and believe all things in heaven and earth, visible and invisible, to have been created, to be retained, in their being, and to be ruled and guided by his inscrutable providence for such end as his eternal wisdom, goodness, and justice have appointed, and to the manifestation of his own glory. Amen.

Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
